Nottingham Forest consider cutting short Zinchenko loan deal

Nottingham Forest are open to cutting short Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko’s loan deal this month.

Zinchenko joined Nottingham Forest on a season-long loan on summer transfer deadline day but has struggled to make an impact, only starting four Premier League games.

Latest report have now claim Forest are believed to be exploring the possibility of ending the left-back’s loan spell this month.

However, it is understood there is no mechanism in the agreement with Arsenal that allows the deal to be halted before its expiry, which complicates his potential return to the Emirates.

Arsenal already have a full squad, which could cause difficulty in accepting a request from Forest to end Zinchenko’s loan prematurely.

Aside Zinchenko, Douglas Luiz also face an uncertain January at Nottingham despite agreeing season-long loan deals last summer.

Forest are obliged to buy Douglas Luiz for about £23million if he makes 15 appearances of at least 45 minutes each. So far, the Brazilian, who belongs to Juventus, has clocked up 10.

At this stage, Juventus sources say the terms of the loan are unchanged yet with more than a fortnight left of the window, that position could still shift.
